Latest Regulations
As of January 1, 2024, China has implemented updated drone flying policies. The main changes focus on two key points: registration requirements and altitude restrictions.
- All drones, regardless of weight, must be registered under real-name registration.
- Light drones are restricted to a maximum altitude of 120 meters. Flying above this limit requires airspace approval, which can only be requested by licensed drone pilots. UAV operation is permitted only after the approval is granted.
- The category of light drones includes the Mavic, Air, Mini, Spark, Neo and Inspire series.
No Drones in Beijing and Tibet
BEIJING: Due to preparations for the September 3 military parade, drone rules are very strict. Do not turn on your drone while in Beijing. Even without flying, powering it on can alert authorities. Police may check your drone and keep it until you leave. To be safe, remove the battery and store the drone and battery separately in your luggage.
TIBET: Drones are not allowed before September 1 because of upcoming celebrations. If you enter Tibet before August 31, you’ll need to store your drone elsewhere before your flight.
